The School District of La Crosse is accepting applications for a 1.0 FTE Early Childhood Special Education 1:1 Teacher Assistant at Southern Bluffs Elementary School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. Projected start date: August 17, 2026
This is a certified position. Certified Teacher Assistant positions require a Special Education Program Aide License from the Department of Public Instruction ($100.00 expense paid for by the District.)
Position responsibilities:
Assist students with medical needs, bathroom/hygiene needs and other self-care routines.
Assist students at breakfast/lunch/other eating times.
Carry out behavior modification plans developed by teacher.
Carry out individualized areas of IEPs as developed by teacher.
Follow through on transfer of OT/PT and Speech/Language skills to the daily routine.
Nurture independent behavior.
Help with individual, small group, and large group activities.
Help with other generalized classroom tasks.
Carry out health care procedures as directed by school nurse.
