DESCRIPTION OF THE DISTRICT:

The Brandon School District is a mid-size school district nestled in Northwest Oakland County. The district has approximately 900 students in junior kindergarten-5th grade between the two elementary schools, approximately 450 at the middle school level and approximately 600 at the high school. This small, tight knit community has a strong connection to its schools and is passionate about the education of its youth. Brandon High School sends 85-90% of its graduates to post-secondary school each year, it was ranked in the 82nd percentile of all schools in the State on the top-to-bottom rankings and it was awarded as a Silver Medal Winner by the US News. Our elementary schools are both one-to-one technology are each near the 83rd percentile in State rankings.

Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, the Early Childhood Program Supervisor provides visionary leadership and operational oversight of early childhood programs within the Brandon School District. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and student-centered leader with expertise in early childhood education, licensing compliance, staff development, and program administration. The Brandon School District licensee must submit the creÂdentials of the proposed program supervisor to MiLEAP for review and approval prior to hire.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Educational Leadership, or related field preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related child-focused field required

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate preferred

  • Administrative certification/endorsement preferred

  • Minimum of three years of successful experience in early childhood education, including supervisory or administrative leadership experience

  • Experience with GSRP, tuition preschool, child care licensing, and grant-funded programming strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Early Childhood Standards of Quality for Birth to Kindergarten, HighScope curriculum, and child assessment systems

  • Experience managing grants, budgets, staffing, and compliance documentation

  • Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills

Compliance Requirements

The successful candidate must meet all applicable MiLEAP child care licensing requirements for a Program Supervisor and all Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) qualifications and implementation standards, including required education, experience, and administrative training. Knowledge of MiRegistry, licensing regulations, annual professional development requirements, and GSRP implementation expectations is essential.

Essential Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Administration

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all early childhood programs located at the Brandon Early Childhood Center, including GSRP, tuition preschool, Bridge to Kindergarten, and summer child care programming

  • Oversee school-age latchkey services at Harvey-Swanson Elementary and Oakwood Elementary

  • Ensure all programs operate in alignment with district goals, state regulations, and best practices in early learning

  • Develop and implement systems that support safe, engaging, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environments

  • Collaborate closely with the Early On team and the Director of Student Support Services to support coordinated services for children and families

Licensing & Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with MiLEAP child care licensing regulations, GSRP implementation requirements, and all applicable state and federal guidelines

  • Maintain accurate program documentation, records, and reporting requirements

  • Monitor MiRegistry, staff credentials, CDA renewals, and required annual professional development hours

  • Coordinate licensing visits, audits, and corrective action plans as needed

Instructional Leadership

  • Support implementation of research-based early childhood curriculum, assessment, and instructional practices, including HighScope and approved assessment tools

  • Conduct classroom observations and provide coaching, support, and evaluation for instructional staff

  • Use student and program data to support continuous improvement and program effectiveness

  • Support staff in addressing behavioral, developmental, and family support needs

Staff Supervision & Development

  • Recruit, hire, supervise, train, and evaluate early childhood and child care staff in collaboration with Human Resources

  • Foster a collaborative professional culture focused on growth, accountability, and student success

  • Lead staff meetings and ongoing professional learning opportunities

  • Ensure all GSRP teaching staff meet required certification and endorsement standards

Family & Community Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with families, Oakland Schools, community agencies, and early childhood service providers

  • Support family engagement initiatives, parent education opportunities, and community outreach efforts

  • Coordinate program marketing, enrollment, tours, and informational events to increase community awareness and participation

Budget & Grant Management

  • Develop and manage program budgets, grants, and operational plans to ensure fiscal responsibility and program sustainability

  • Oversee tuition processes, enrollment systems, purchasing, and financial reporting

  • Lead grant writing, implementation, monitoring, and reporting for state and federal early childhood funding sources

WORK DAYS: Monday through Friday, year-round

COMPENSATION: $60,000 to $70,000 per school contract year
