“A child's life is like a piece of paper on which every person leaves a mark.” Guardian Angel Settlement Association is seeking an Infant/Toddler Teacher. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that is responsible for planning, managing and implementing daily classroom programs and activities to further children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth and development. This position is also responsible for acting as a support and resource to parents and implementing Head Start Program Performance Standards, Missouri Child Care Licensing Regulations and all Childcare procedures and objectives. The scheduled hours for the position are flexible to meet the demands of the Center between the hours of 6am – 6pm, Monday through Friday. This position is supervised by the Assistant Director of Childcare.

Established in 1859, Guardian Angel Settlement Association (GASA) exists to serve people living in poverty by helping them improve the quality of their lives and become economically independent. Best known for Head Start and Early Head Start Programs, Guardian Angel also offers a wide array of social services including emergency rental, utility, and food assistance; senior services; self-sufficiency services; a food pantry; and a resale shop. An Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with at least 10 early childhood education classes preferred. Ability to work with a broad range of children, parents, volunteers and staff in a positive manner. Excellent time management , communication skills, organized, detail-oriented, and competent in the use of computers also required. Provide evidence of an annual physical and TB Test and have the ability to lift fifty (50) pounds. Ability and willingness to buy into the mission of the organization is essential. EOE.

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate with fellow educators to design, coordinate, and execute educational programs for children in alignment with the GASA philosophy and innovative curriculum, establishing both group and individual objectives regularly.

Ensure a secure and nurturing classroom environment, adhering to Center guidelines, licensing protocols, accreditation standards, and Head Start mandates, while integrating best practices for child safety and well-being.

Utilize appropriate instructional materials, daily schedules, and behavior management strategies to effectively manage the classroom environment.

Maintain meticulous documentation of children's developmental progress, encompassing personalized plans, journal entries, and requisite reports and records.

Foster constructive communication and engagement with parents to support children's learning and development effectively.

Demonstrate effective communication and relationship-building skills with both children and adults, cultivating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere.

Education and Experience:

Hold an Associate’s degree (AA), Child Development Associate (CDA), or equivalent educational background in early childhood education.

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related fields, although not mandatory.

Maintain current CPR and First Aid certifications.

Working towards furthering education in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or obtaining CDA certification, with relevant experience considered in lieu of formal education.
