Job Summary/Basic Function
Assumes primary responsibility for development and implementation of early childhood lesson planning and curriculum in an early learning setting. Responsible for all aspects of classroom management and supervision.
Specific Responsibilities Required Relevant Education & Experience
Education: Associate's Degree or up to 3 years of college or technical school in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education or High School Diploma and Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential ; Experience: 1-2 Years; Early Head Start, child care center, or preschool

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Ensures the goals and objectives of the Early Childhood Education Center are met by planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children and instructing, modeling, and demonstrating appropriate developmental practices as described. Maintains current lesson plans for all instructional periods.

Provides specific guidance to assistant teachers, classroom visitors, practicum and field placement students, and student workers. In absence of program administration, may assume operational responsibility for the ECEC program, including licensing compliance, payment receipt and posting. Interprets policy and procedure to the public and to internal stakeholders in face to face, telephone, and email correspondence.

Supervises ISU student participants by modeling appropriate curriculum and guidance techniques, observing and assessing lessons, and providing feedback. Assists university representatives in developing and implementing continuing education opportunities.

Responsible for ongoing assessments as required by FSSA/PTQ /NAEYC accreditation standards. Age group specific assessments include ISPROUT and KRI for eligible preschool students, and Ages and Stages (ASQ) developmental screeners at all milestones relevant to age group. Maintain anecdotal records of the developmental progress of children participating in the programs. Completes ongoing and annual evaluation of at least one staff member, contributes to annual evaluations of floating teachers and other support personnel.

Completes required 20 clock hours of professional development. Maintains annual CPR and First Aid certification and annual TB test. Completes annual Civil Rights compliance items in accordance with CACFP federal guidelines. Maintains professional competence and expands the knowledge base and ability of the Children's programs to serve its constituencies by attending professional development seminars, workshops, in-service training, and related activities.
