Job Summary/Basic Function
Assist the classroom teacher in providing a developmentally appropriate setting for young children enrolled in the Early Childhood Education Center. In the absence of a classroom teacher, serve as the instructor who is primarily responsible for the assigned group of children.

Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assists classroom teacher in all aspects of classroom management and curriculum implementation. Interacts with children during all activity times. Assists with toileting and diapering as required for specific age group. Helps children develop habits of caring for own self as age appropriate. Maintains guidance and discipline. Serves meals and refreshments to children and regulates rest periods. Performs other duties as assigned.

Engages with parents and other program stakeholders, ensuring effective
communication regarding daily occurrences. Communicates verbally, via
email, telephone, and program specific childcare app.

Completes required compliance item documentation, such as attendance,
meal participation ( CACFP) in alignment with federal and state reporting requirements for licensed childcare.

In the absence of classroom teacher, assumes responsibility for daily
operation, including addressing student behavior, executing lesson plans
and curriculum components, and ensuring a safe and developmentally
appropriate environment for all children.

Completes annual continuing education requirements, as outlined by NAEYC accreditation, Paths to Quality rating, and FSSA licensure.
Includes 20 clock hours of professional development ( online or face to face), annual recertification in CPR and First Aid, annual Civil Rights Compliance training (CACFP). Completes annual recertification in Child Abuse and Neglect and Safe Sleep practices as required by FSSA licensing, which is not included in the 20 hour PD count.
