Early Childhood & Family Engagement Coordinator

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Social Work, Family Studies, or a related field.
  • Training or coursework in child care administration preferred.
  • Knowledge of Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements.
  • Experience working with young children and families.
  • Knowledge of child development, family systems, trauma informed practices, and community resources.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other technology applications.

Skills and Abilities:

The Early Childhood & Family Engagement Coordinator provides leadership for the district's early childhood programs while fostering meaningful partnerships with families, staff, and community organizations. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of family support services, community resources, and child care licensing requirements.
  • Ability to promote collaboration, problem solving, and continuous program improvement.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the district's early childhood programs, including preschool and Kid's Club, serving children birth through age five.
  • Supervise, support, and evaluate early childhood staff while promoting high quality instruction and ongoing professional growth.
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements, district policies, and health and safety regulations while maintaining required program records and documentation.
  • Oversee program operations, including budgeting, enrollment, assessments, and continuous program improvement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families by providing communication, education, support, and connections to community resources.
  • Collaborate with school staff, Communities in Schools, Char Em ISD, and community agencies to coordinate services and increase family engagement.
  • Promote enrollment and public awareness of early childhood programs through outreach and recruitment activities.
  • Represent East Jordan Public Schools in a professional manner and communicate the district's mission and vision to families and community partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
