This is a remote position.
We’re looking for an E&IC Engineer who can take full ownership of designing, updating, and modernizing control system architectures within complex industrial and nuclear environments. This role requires someone who can evaluate existing systems, engineer new solutions from scratch, and ensure seamless integration into distributed control system (DCS) networks. You’ll work closely with operations, engineering teams, and contractors to deliver fully engineered replacement packages that maintain reliability, safety, and strong cyber-security alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop complete control system design packages from concept through delivery, including wiring, component selection, PLC logic pathways, and system documentation.
- Evaluate failures or outdated hardware (valves, PLC modules, field instruments, networked devices) and engineer modern replacements that integrate properly into DCS networks.
- Assign, update, and document IP addresses, network parameters, and system configurations for replaced or upgraded devices.
- Provide design packages to contractors—including drawings, specifications, and network mapping—to support installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Support system modernization projects involving Westinghouse/Emerson Ovation, AP1000, or similar platforms by understanding how subsystems communicate across industrial networks.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE preferred) or relevant technical discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in E&IC engineering, preferably supporting nuclear, utility, or heavy industrial facilities.
- Strong understanding of DCS architectures, control system communication, and how components interact within networked environments.
- Experience with control system updates, replacements, troubleshooting, and system performance trending.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and system architecture drawings.
- Familiarity with cyber-security considerations related to control system design (no deep network engineering required).
- Knowledge of PLC-based systems, instrumentation, and industrial control devices.
- Excellent documentation, communication, and client-facing coordination skills.
