The Dyslexia Specialist provides research-based literacy instruction to students with dyslexia, manages reporting per the Dyslexia Handbook, and offers classroom accommodations.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred), valid Texas teaching certificates with special education endorsements, and training in dyslexia intervention.
Skills required are knowledge of reading instruction, RTI, dyslexia methods, data collection, and effective communication.
Experience of at least three years teaching is preferred.
The role involves implementing district dyslexia programs, conducting assessments, collaborating with staff, maintaining student data, participating in ARD meetings, and delivering professional development.
Physical and environmental demands include frequent movement, lifting, outdoor work, and managing behavioral challenges.
Performance is evaluated annually.
