Dump Truck Driver

Job Summary:
The Dump Truck Driver is responsible for the transport of paving materials, construction supplies, dirt, or garbage to and from various locations to construction sites.
The dump truck driver’s responsibilities include using the cranks and levers inside the truck to unload materials, supervising the loading of materials onto the truck, and inspecting the truck for any mechanical issues before and after every trip. The driver should also be able to safely drive and operate the truck in all weather conditions.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Transporting crushed rock, sand, gravel, and other materials to and from specified locations.
  • Verifying the types of materials being transported and ensuring that they do not exceed weight restrictions.
  • Ensuring that the materials are loaded correctly onto the dump truck.
  • Completing DVIR’s.
  • Inspecting the dump truck before and after every trip, which includes checking the oil, gas, and water levels as well as the lights and tires.
  • Promptly reporting any accidents, injuries, or mechanical faults to management.
  • Ensuring regular maintenance is performed so that the truck is in good working order.
  • Maintaining accurate driver logs.
  • Complying with all safety rules and regulations.
  • Assisting on jobsites as requested.
  • Operation of other CDL vehicles as needed.
 
Physical Requirements:
  • This position requires the following motions: sitting for extended periods of time; stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
  • Physical ability to operate equipment under temperature extremes, for extended hours of time.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid DOT certificate.
 
Additional Requirements:
  • Attendance is required according to company attendance policy to ensure the crew is able to operate at normal efficiency level.
  • Participates and cooperates in all Company scheduled training, briefings, and meetings.
  • Provides a positive professional attitude when dealing with co-workers, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to be flexible with last minute schedule changes, location changes, time of shift changes. Overtime work may be required.
  • Abide by Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements as well as local, municipal, state, and federal laws.
  • Applicants applying for driving positions must be a minimum of 25 years of age to meet insurance underwriting requirements for insurability.
 
Preferred Background:
  • Working knowledge of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations.
  • Must have a valid commercial driver’s license, and reliable transportation.
  • Must have a clean/ insurable driving record.
  • Proven experience operating a standard dump truck.
  • Spanish proficiency a plus but NOT a requirement.
 
Preplacement Requirements
All Potential Candidates must be willing to submit to the company required background check(s) as applicable and preplacement drug analysis to be considered for hire.

Wages:
$28.00 + per hour depending on experience.
