TITLE: Driver Education Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet the certification requirements of the State of Delaware Department of Education
REPORTS TO: School Principal (or Assistant Principal)
LOCATION: Lake Forest High School
JOB GOAL: To provide opportunities for every student to acquire the knowledge, attitudes, habits, and skills necessary for the safe operation of motor vehicles.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaches students the manipulative skills, defensive techniques, and perceptive skills necessary for modern-day driving through traditional instruction, and on-the-road behind-the-wheel training.
Strives to instill in students attitudes and behavior conductive to safe, proper operation of a motor vehicle.
Instructs students in how to cope with typical emergencies associated with the operation of a motor vehicle.
Assists students in preparing applications for Department of Motor Vehicles' student driver permits.
Prepares and issues Department of Motor Vehicles' certificates to students who successfully complete the course.
Services driver-training car (gasoline, oil, washing, garaging), and arranges for other maintenance services with automobile dealers.
Prepares and maintains all necessary records and reports.
Edits film for use, creates, revises, and updates all other teaching materials as needed.
Explains and interprets the schools education program to school personnel, and the community at large.
Other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor that pertain to driver education instruction.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside the instructional day as required by LFEA contract
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month work year. Salary and scheduled determined by the Board of Education
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation and Department of Education guidelines.
