Driver & Donations Associate – Full-Time
Crisis Center of Comal County – Comal Thrift Shop
The Crisis Center of Comal County is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Driver & Donations Associate to support daily operations at the Comal Thrift Shop. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role that combines driving, donation processing, inventory handling, customer service, sales, and general store operations.
Position Details
Job title: Driver & Donations Associate
Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, including weekends and holidays
Status: Non-exempt, full-time hourly
Reports to: Director of the Thrift Store
Location: Comal Thrift Shop (Crisis Center of Comal County)
What You’ll Do
Provide friendly, helpful customer service, greet shoppers, and create a positive, welcoming store environment.
Assist customers on the sales floor, share information about daily sales and promotions, and operate the cash register.
Support store operations, including opening/closing, stocking, merchandising, and helping with special sales and events.
Assist with basic social media efforts by sharing content, promoting daily sales, special events, and new inventory.
Drive the company box truck for scheduled donation pick-ups and drop-offs, using GPS tools and completing basic vehicle inspections.
Report any mechanical or safety issues with the vehicle promptly.
Unload, unpack, sort, and price donated items; place items neatly on racks or tables and restock the sales floor, ensuring items meet store standards.
Support volunteers by delegating tasks, providing basic supervision, and guiding them in assisting clients with voucher redemption and resource organization.
Perform other duties as assigned to support store and agency needs.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Frequent standing and walking while assisting customers, processing donations, and performing store tasks.
Regular bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting, moving, and carrying items up to 50 pounds (and occasionally more) with dollies or carts when available.
Repeatedly entering and exiting a box truck and other vehicles for local pick-ups and drop-offs.
Work performed indoors (sales floor, stockroom) and outdoors (donation and loading areas).
Regular exposure to Texas weather (heat, sun, cold, rain, wind) while loading/unloading donations and operating the truck.
Exposure to normal retail noise, dust, and odors from donated items and common cleaning products.

Ability to read and write effectively.
Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional demeanor.
Ability to use GPS and navigation tools.
Ability to lift 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Reliable attendance, punctuality, and comfort working a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active, hands-on environment.
