General Responsibilities:
We are hiring an experienced Driller / ETM 4 to lead field drilling operations on geotechnical and environmental projects. This is a hands-on leadership role for a skilled operator who wants consistent work, reliable equipment, and the ability to take ownership of projects without the constraints of a union environment.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
Drilling & Equipment Operation
- Operate and manage drill rigs using auger, mud rotary, and coring methods
- Perform field testing and support subsurface exploration activities
- Safely transport drill rigs and support equipment to and from job sites
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep equipment production-ready
Crew Leadership
- Lead a 2-3 person crew with full responsibility for daily field operations
- Train and mentor junior team members with a focus on safety, efficiency, and skill development
- Take initiative in solving field challenges independently
Field Execution
- Set up sites, locate utilities, and establish drilling locations
- Install monitoring wells, piezometers, and other instrumentation
- Adapt to changing ground conditions and keep projects moving efficiently
- Handle tools, materials, and samples safely and effectively
Documentation & Quality
- Complete daily drilling logs, field reports, and DOT requirements
- Classify soil and rock samples in the field
- Maintain accurate and organized project records
Safety & Planning
- Lead daily safety discussions and pre-task planning
- Identify and address jobsite hazards
- Ensure all work meets company safety and quality standards
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent
5+ years of drill rig operation experience (geotechnical or environmental)
Strong working knowledge of multiple drilling methods
Proven ability to run a crew and manage field operations independently
Mechanical skills for maintaining and troubleshooting equipment
Valid commercial driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to obtain DOT Medical Card within 30 days
Preferred Qualifications:
Minnesota Department of Health well drilling license
Experience installing monitoring wells or instrumentation
Experience with CPT or in-situ testing methods
