POSITION SUMMARY

The Drafter is responsible for producing accurate, detailed, and client-ready documentation to support commercial furniture projects from concept through installation. This role translates design intent into technical drawings, specifications, and production-ready deliverables while ensuring alignment with client standards, project requirements, and internal processes. Working closely with Designers, Account Managers, and cross-functional teams, the Drafter plays a critical role in maintaining project accuracy, consistency, and efficiency across multiple projects. Depending on experience level, this role may also take on increased ownership of complex projects, contribute to process improvements, and support team development.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Design Documentation & Production

  • Produce accurate drawings, specifications, and presentation materials that communicate design intent
  • Translate concepts into production-ready documentation and implement revisions/redlines
  • Support project quoting in alignment with scope, pricing, and client requirements

Project Execution

  • Manage drafting tasks across multiple projects, ensuring timely and accurate deliverables
  • Maintain alignment between design intent, client expectations, and production requirements
  • Identify and resolve documentation gaps or inconsistencies

Quality Control & Standards

  • Apply client-specific standards and review deliverables for accuracy and completeness
  • Maintain organized project files, templates, and documentation systems

Collaboration & Support

  • Coordinate with Designers, Account Managers, vendors, and internal teams
  • Proactively communicate updates and participate in project meetings as needed
  • Provide occasional field support, including site verification and measurements as needed

Technical Application

  • Utilize drafting software like AutoCAD, CET, and related tools to develop documentation
  • Support product research, specifications, and vendor coordination
  • Build knowledge of commercial interiors, furniture systems, and industry standards

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in drafting, design, architecture, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Proficiency in drafting softwares such as Autodesk, Bluebeam, and CET Designer
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and redlines
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills and collaborative mindset
