We are currently recruiting for a Domestic Operations Manager for a locally owned and operated freight forwarding company in Saratoga County, NY. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead and oversee domestic freight operations while ensuring exceptional customer service, regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and team performance. This role is responsible for managing domestic transportation activities, supporting client relationships, developing carrier partnerships, analyzing operational performance, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management
" Oversee daily domestic transportation and freight operations to ensure timely and efficient shipment execution.
" Manage the onboarding of new clients, including oversight of initial shipments and implementation of operational processes.
" Provide clients with expert guidance regarding freight movement, transportation solutions, documentation requirements, routing options, transit times, and Incoterms.
" Process and monitor shipments, ensuring accuracy of transportation documentation and operational records.
" Collaborate closely with the Director of Operations to support daily operational objectives and strategic initiatives.

Carrier & Vendor Management
" Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with transportation providers, carriers, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners.
" Maintain carrier databases and ensure vendor information remains accurate and current.
" Ensure carrier insurance compliance and maintain all required documentation.

Regulatory Compliance
" Maintain compliance with applicable DOT regulations and transportation industry standards.
" Manage required regulatory documentation for New York State DOT compliance.
" Conduct and present annual DOT Workers' Compensation audits.
" Stay current on transportation regulations, including OTR (Over-the-Road), rail transportation, NMFC classifications, ELD requirements, and related compliance standards.
" Maintain familiarity with international freight regulations, including IATA requirements.

Analytics & Business Performance
" Utilize operational data and reporting tools to analyze shipment activity, customer trends, profitability, service performance, and growth opportunities.
" Develop forecasts and operational insights to support strategic decision-making and maximize profitability.
" Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend process improvements to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Technology & Systems Management
" Utilize transportation management systems and load board platforms such as Sylectus, DAT, Loadlink, and MacroPoint to optimize freight movement and visibility.
" Support operational technology initiatives and ensure accurate system utilization across the department

Leadership & Team Development
" Lead, mentor, and manage a team of operations professionals.
" Provide training, coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
" Conduct performance evaluations and address employee relations matters as necessary.
" Coordinate regular departmental meetings to review operational trends, performance metrics, customer concerns, and continuous improvement opportunities.
" Foster a collaborative, accountable, and customer-focused team culture

Customer & Cross-Functional Collaboration
" Partner with Sales, Pricing, and other internal departments to support customer growth and service excellence.
" Participate in client meetings, conference calls, industry events, and seminars as required.
" Work proactively with customers, carriers, agents, and internal stakeholders to resolve service issues and strengthen relationships.
" Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and service standards.

Qualifications

Required
" Minimum of 2 years of freight operations, transportation, logistics, or supply chain experience.
" Strong understanding of domestic transportation operations and regulatory requirements.
" Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
" Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
" Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
" Strong analytical and organizational skills.
" Positive, professional, and team-oriented attitude.

Preferred
" Experience with Cargo Wise or similar Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
" Knowledge of DOT, NMFC, ELD, rail, and over-the-road transportation regulations.
" Experience managing carrier networks and third-party logistics providers.
" Prior supervisory or team leadership experience

Compensation

" $95,000 $115,000 annually
