Position Title: DOD STARBASE Coordinator

Reports To: Ast. Superintendent

Contract: 220 Days

Closing Date: Until Filled

SUMMARY: The DOD STARBASE Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing the Department of Defense STARBASE program within the school district. The coordinator works collaboratively with district leadership, military partners, educators, community organizations, and students to provide high-quality STEM education experiences that promote science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and workforce readiness. This position oversees program operations, curriculum implementation, compliance, scheduling, outreach, and student engagement activities aligned with STARBASE program requirements and district goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate daily operations of the DOD STARBASE program within the district.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with military installations, community organizations, business leaders, and educational stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with district administrators and school staff to schedule student participation and program activities.
  • Ensure implementation of DOD STARBASE curriculum and instructional requirements.
  • Supervise and support STARBASE instructors, volunteers, and program staff.
  • Monitor program compliance with Department of Defense guidelines, district policies, and federal requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, budgets, inventories, attendance, and program documentation.
  • Coordinate transportation, field experiences, STEM events, and special activities related to STARBASE programming.
  • Assist with grant management, budgeting, purchasing, and resource allocation.
  • Promote STEM education opportunities and student engagement through outreach and communication efforts.
  • Organize family nights, showcases, camps, competitions, and community engagement events.
  • Collect and analyze program data to evaluate effectiveness and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for district leadership, military partners, and funding agencies.
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts for student participation in STEM and career pathway programs.
  • Ensure a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment for all students and staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, STEM-related field, Educational Leadership, or related area required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid state educator license or ability to obtain required certification preferred.
  • Experience in STEM education, program coordination, grant management, or educational leadership preferred.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense STARBASE program goals and requirements preferred.
  • Experience working with military partnerships, community organizations, or federal programs is desirable.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and stakeholder relationships effectively.
  • Proficiency in technology applications, data management, and instructional tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to move throughout school campuses, classrooms, and activity spaces.
  • Ability to lift and transport instructional materials and equipment up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special events and activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • School district and classroom environments with occasional travel to military installations, partner sites, and district campuses.
  • Frequent interaction with students, educators, military personnel, parents, and community stakeholders.
