What You Will Do

Are you highly skilled photographer with the skills and experience to capture highly accurate technical photos in very challenging work environments? If so, then we invite you to learn more about our opening for a documentation photography position to support organizations and programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL).

Communications and External Affairs (CEA) Division is seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled technical photographer for the Multimedia Production (CEA-MP) group. As part of the Deployed Media Services Team, you will provide technical photography to document scientific and production processes and progress within a fast-paced and demanding weapons manufacturing environment. You may also assist with image capture for technical training videos, lectures and knowledge captures.

This is not a creative photography or portrait position. Experience in documentation photography is preferred, such as manufacturing or medical. This position will require long periods of standing and wearing personal protective equipment and clothing in high-security and radiation protection environments. Position requires problem-solving and adaptability to photo equipment limitations due to security requirements or radiation protection. Capturing accurate photographic details are the priority, not creativity. Creating accurate metadata and logging all photos in the lab's archival digital photo collection is an essential aspect of every photo project.

This is a challenging and rewarding role allowing you to contribute to the lab's national security mission. Working under limited direction, you will work directly with customers to determine requirements, and plan and produce your own projects.
