Augusta University is Georgias innovation center for education and health care, training the next generation of innovators, leaders, and healthcare providers. Established in 2017, the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services was established through a unique collaboration between Augusta University Health System and the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice with the goal of delivering high-quality health services to the state of Georgias justice-involved youth in 25 facilities.

Our mission in the Department of Juvenile Justice Health Services is to transform young lives by providing evidence-based rehabilitative treatment services and supervision, strengthening the well-being of youth and families, and fostering safe communities. Each youth will receive appropriate, individualized care to improve their health knowledge and their potential for wellness.

 

Responsibilities

• Performs manager job responsibilities - with minimal supervision • Consistently directs and advises staff members regarding patient care, work performance, problem-solving, and decision-making • Demonstrates good managerial and clinical judgment in assigning duties appropriate to everyone • Demonstrates good judgment in the routine anticipation of staffing needs and makes the necessary arrangements for departmental coverage

• Serves as job expert or organization resource - in assigned areas • Continuously and thoroughly plans, organizes, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates patient care in the institution • Ensures that the care plans for each patient adhere to applicable policies and procedures • Regularly monitors the work of assigned staff to ensure that all treatments, medications, and diagnostic tests ordered by the physician are expeditiously carried out and properly recorded

• Supervise support staff or employees • Defines goals and/or required results at the beginning of the performance period and gains acceptance of ideas by creating a shared vision • Communicates regularly with staff on progress toward defined goals and/or required results; providing specific feedback and initiating corrective action when defined goals and/or results are not met • Confers regularly with staff to review employee relations climate, specific problem areas, and actions necessary for improvement • Evaluates employees at scheduled intervals, obtain and consider all relevant information in evaluations, and support staff by giving praise and constructive criticism

• Maintains accurate, detailed reports and client records

 

Required Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing with 3 years of previous management or supervisory experience in administration or a clinical setting. Prefer 1 year of experience in a correctional setting.

Security Clearance by the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice.

Preferred Experience

Previous Correctional Experience. 2 or more years previous experience in a clinical setting.
