Position Overview

Danella is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Division Financial Controller to lead all financial and accounting activities for one of our operating divisions.

This individual will play a critical leadership role, partnering closely with Division leadership to drive financial performance, ensure accuracy in reporting, and support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in construction accounting, strong business acumen, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, field-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Division leadership to support strategic planning and operational decision-making
  • Establish, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Lead and manage all accounting functions, including job costing, payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly financial statements and Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules
  • Review financial results with Division leadership and provide actionable insights
  • Monitor financial performance, identify trends, and proactively address risks and opportunities
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to review monthly cost reports, analyze variances, and identify potential cost exposures
  • Support project closeout processes to ensure complete and accurate billing
  • Prepare and analyze financial reporting packages for senior management
  • Develop and manage monthly and annual operating budgets and forecasts
  • Drive financial discipline and accountability across the division
  • Oversee billing processes to ensure compliance with contract requirements and support effective cash flow management
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance by tracking required documentation (lien releases, insurance certificates, executed agreements) and enforcing payment controls

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of Controller-level experience  
  • Strong knowledge of construction accounting, job costing, and WIP reporting
  • Proven ability to partner with operations and senior leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Self-directed, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $150,000 – $175,000 (commensurate with experience)
