Job Summary and Qualifications The Academic Affairs and Scholarship Director is responsible for development, organization, direction, implementation and evaluation of an infrastructure for a systems-approach to the academic partnerships and targeted programs to support the advancement of nursing workforce in assigned division. This includes forming an maintaining strategic and collaborative academic partnerships with area/regional schools of nursing; nursing student scholarship program development and management; support for activities related to student onboarding and clinical rotation assignments; educational affiliation agreement management and oversight; DEU collaboration and implementation; oversight of nurse externship programs; additional coordination relating to students and academic partnerships. This position will perform a variety of quality data entry and management functions that will include data entry, routine database maintenance and standard report generation, verification and distribution. What you will do: Builds strategic alliances and partnerships serving as the liaison between Mission Health facilities and local nursing programs collaborating to maximize and optimize clinical rotations and enhance graduate preparedness Serves as the liaison between Mission Health facilities and Galen College of Nursing to collaborate and expand recruitment, and communicate benefits to potential students. Develops and manages nursing student scholarship programs facilitating recruitment and retention Develops and leads innovative strategies to facilitate collaboration activities with schools of nursing promoting student nurse recruitment and retention Develops and directs the nursing student recruitment strategies to support the pipeline from high schools to nursing schools with facility CEO/CNOs Collaborates with Division and facility leadership to develop retention strategies for new graduates Establishes Academic Partnerships and facilitates Academic Practice Partnership Collaboration and activities Leads the day to day operations of academic partnerships that may include supporting Clinical Educators and clinical instructors in scheduling classes with applicable education materials and equipment, coordination of nursing student placement and schedules and facilitates communication with clinical education employees Provides leadership, coordination and oversight of externship or pre-licensure training programs Develops strategies and provides leadership /oversight for Dedicated Education Units (DEUs) What you will need: Master's Degree in Nursing or Education Required Will consider a Bachelor's degree in a healthcare related field and current enrollment in a Master's degree program; A Bachelor's degree in Nursing is highly preferred 5+ years experience in acute care facility Required 3-5 years of experience in healthcare education Required Currently licensed as a registered nurse or health professional in the state(s) of practice and/or an active compact license, in accordance with law and regulation Required Basic Life Support Required Benefits Methodist Healthcare, offers a total rewards package that supports the health, life, career and retirement of our colleagues.
