FISCAL SPECIALIST

Supervisor: Director of Business Services

Salary Range: $35.85 - $44.77

Location: Administrative Office

Conditions of work: 260 days/8 hours per day

SUMMARY:

The Fiscal Specialist will support the Director of Business Services with daily activities, special projects and/or assigned projects. Additionally, when needed, the Fiscal Specialist will assist various internal departments, including payroll, for the district. Maintaining confidentiality is mandatory for this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains current knowledge of purchasing-related laws and regulations.
  • Maintains current knowledge of bargaining agreements and contracts, payroll-related laws and regulations, technical standards and District personnel and payroll policies; practices and researches, analyzes, and interprets them, as needed, to determine appropriate actions and to clarify them for staff.
  • Supports in grant management.
  • Supports in accounts receivable processing.
  • Supports with the electronic receipting system; trains staff and reconciles accounts.
  • Supports with the placement of staff on the various salary schedules.
  • Verifies financials to budget and supports in budget development.
  • Supports with updates to S-275 personnel report.
  • Assists with public records requests; maintains confidentiality of information and records.
  • Maintains, examines and audits accounts for accuracy while adhering to policies, procedures and district controls.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and outside agency personnel.
  • Supports in payroll data entry and processes.
  • Supports in human resource duties related to business services.
  • Supports in various accounts payable duties.
  • Supports in the district''s compliance for all programs, including but not limited to, child nutrition services, federal grant programs, special education, etc.
  • Participates in contract negotiations and bargaining preparation.
  • Provides quality customer service to district staff related to business services.
  • Participates in a variety of activities to enhance personal and professional skills.
  • Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Business Services.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (strong knowledge of Excel), ten key, and ability to learn financial software.
  • Experience in WESPaC and/or Skyward preferred.
  • Two (2) plus years' experience working in K-12 school district accounting or five (5) plus years' experience working in accounting related field preferred.
  • Experience working with a high producing team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in cooperation with co-workers.
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations and possess great human relations and interpersonal skills and take initiative when necessary.
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.

180-259 Day Employees- Paid leave benefits to include 10 sick days, 10 paid holidays, and 3 personal leave days.

260 Day Employee-Paid leave benefits to include a minimum of 12 sick days, 13 paid holiday and 3 personal leave days and a minimum of 10 days' vacation after the first year.

  • Benefits may be prorated based upon date of hire/hours per day.
