Job Summary:
Looking for an Area Operations Manager to oversee multiple supervisors responsible for local telecom construction operations supporting AT&T. This person will manage teams performing business-as-usual work including fiber construction, maintenance activities, cable cuts, emergency restoration, and after-hours response. They will oversee both internal construction crews and subcontractors while ensuring safe, high-quality project execution. This individual will be responsible for overall operational performance, safety, customer relationships, scheduling, and project execution across their assigned region.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Manage a group of supervisors running day-to-day field operations.
Oversee both in-house construction crews and subcontractors.
Support AT&T OSP construction and maintenance operations.
Manage underground and aerial utility construction projects.
Coordinate fiber installation, maintenance activities, cable cuts, and emergency restoration efforts.
Monitor schedule adherence, productivity, safety, and quality.
Conduct site visits and field audits to ensure compliance with customer requirements and job specifications.
Work directly with utility companies, municipalities, customers, and internal leadership.
Participate in operational calls and customer meetings.
Handle escalations and resolve operational issues in the field.
Support after-hours and emergency response activities when required.
Must-Have Qualifications
5+ years of experience in telecommunications construction, utility construction, or utility maintenance.
Experience leading supervisors, field crews, and subcontractors.
Strong OSP construction back ground.
Experience managing underground utility construction operations.
Ability to read construction prints and utility maps.
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver"s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
AT&T program experience.
Fiber construction and maintenance experience.
Experience supporting both aerial and underground telecom construction.
Utility construction back ground from power, gas, or telecom industries.
Experience managing multiple territories, offices, or operational groups.
Experience working directly with customers and municipalities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software.
