Duties

  1. Registers students new to the school and orients them to school procedures and the school's

varied opportunities for learning.

  1. Aids students in course and subject selection.

  2. Obtains and disseminates occupational information to students.

  3. Maintains student records and protects their confidentiality.

  4. Works to provide students opportunities in lieu of dropping out.

  5. Provides student information to colleges and potential employers according to provisions of the

Board of Education policy on student records.

  1. Coordinate and assist in scheduling college visits and job shadowing opportunities.

  2. Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such

problems as home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment

  1. Assists with coordination, analysis and dissemination of information for state and local testing and

assessment programs.

  1. Confers with parents whenever necessary.

  2. Supports students to reintegrate into the classrooms/schools after disciplinary action.

  3. Maintains an updated document outlining counselor information and support to provide to families

and the community.

  1. Offers guidance and information as related to different career paths and fields of study.

  2. Consults with administration on creation of master schedule.

  3. Provide classroom (library time) lessons for developmental and success needs of students and

build conflict resolution skills in students.

  1. Other duties as assigned by administration.

SUMMER RESPONSIBILITIES (as allowed in the collective bargaining agreement))

  1. Exit Students

  2. Early Childhood Outcome Report

  3. Course Grade Report

  4. Re-scheduling students who pass summer school

  5. Schedule Changes

  6. New student registration

  7. New student and Freshman kickoff

  • A minimum of 18 hours of work will be required in the summer. Additional hours may be needed to complete the required summer responsibilities. In that case, additional days will be mutually agreed upon and approved by the administration. Summer work will be compensated per diem, as described in the collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid Type 73 certificate

  2. Successful teaching experience (preferred)

Salary/Benefits

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Available on district website www.lcusd9.org.
