DATTCO is searching for an experienced leader to serve as District Fleet Maintenance Manager in our School Bus Maintenance Division. This position reports to the Director of Fleet Maintenance and is responsible for managing roughly half of the division’s fleet locations and employees. Assigned locations are Westport, Durham, East Hampton, Middletown, New Haven and Portland, CT. Candidates should ideally reside within that geographic area.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead, direct, and provide support to the fleet maintenance team.
  • Maintain full employment in each shop.
  • Oversee hiring process for foreman positions.
  • Ensure the fleet stays in safe and operable condition.
  • Ensure compliance of records with company policies and government regulations.
  • Collect and analyze key performance data (KPI) data for use in assessing performance.
  • Achieve key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Conduct training events to educate staff on maintenance procedures and company policies.
  • Develop the leadership and management skill of foremen.
  • Backup foreman when they miss work due to vacation, etc.
  • Conduct shop visits.

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or technical school training.
  • 10 years’ experience as a fleet manager in the school bus industry.
  • Computer skills including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in creating a positive teamwork environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, management and customers.
