Job Title: District College and Career Coordinator

Funding Source: Title IV, Part A - Well Rounded Education

Reports To: Director of Federal Programs

Location: Administration Center

Work Calendar: 212 day administrative contract, regular travel to schools required

Position Overview

The School City of Hammond College and Career Coach supports students in preparing for successful postsecondary outcomes, including college enrollment, career certification, military service, or workforce entry. This position provides leadership in implementing a comprehensive college and career readiness program aligned with Indiana Graduation Pathways and district goals to increase student achievement, engagement, graduation rates, and postsecondary success.

The coordinator works collaboratively with school counselors, administrators, teachers, and community partners to ensure all students-especially those identified as at risk-have access to meaningful college and career exploration, planning, and transition support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to students in grades 6-12 with college and career exploration, planning, and goal setting
  • Assist students with development of Graduation Pathways plans, including Postsecondary-Ready Competencies
  • Support students in identifying career interests using career assessments and labor market information
  • Provide targeted support to first-generation college students and at-risk populations, including Title I students
  • Provide college and career readiness support to elementary schools.
  • Guide students and families through the college application process, including admissions requirements and timelines
  • Assist with FAFSA completion, scholarship applications, and financial aid literacy
  • Coordinate college visits, college fairs, and postsecondary exploration opportunities
  • Support dual credit, AP, and early college opportunities
  • Facilitate career exploration activities, including career interest inventories and job shadowing opportunities
  • Coordinate partnerships with local businesses, trade organizations, and workforce agencies
  • Lead implementation of a district-wide college and career readiness framework aligned to Indiana Graduation Pathways
  • Collaborate with counselors to ensure alignment of services and supports
  • Organize district events such as career fairs, financial aid nights, and family engagement workshops
  • Track and monitor student completion of Graduation Pathway requirements
  • Work with school counselors, instructional staff, and administrators to integrate college and career readiness into instruction
  • Partner with community organizations, higher education institutions, and employers
  • Provide professional development on college and career readiness initiatives
  • Monitor and analyze data related to graduation rates, postsecondary enrollment, credential attainment, and FAFSA completion
  • Use data to identify gaps and target supports for student subgroups
  • Maintain accurate documentation for district reporting and program evaluation
  • Support school improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with the Office of Federal Programs on planning and reporting.
  • Develop and evaluate a districtwide school counseling program
  • Have knowledge of INSCA and ASCA (Carrying the Torch Model)
  • Understand the process for RAMP certification
  • Maintain documentation for federal monitoring and audits.
  • Serve on the district professional development team
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Indiana Counseling Certification
  • Valid Indiana Administrator License
  • Minimum of three years of career counseling experience
  • Experience working with Career and Technical Education Programs
  • Ability to initiate positive partnerships with local community businesses
  • Knowledge of English Learner, 504, and Special Education supports necessary for all students to be successful.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skils
