Senior Construction Site Coordinator
The individual in this position has responsibility to coordinate and supervise pre-construction, construction, and post-construction activities for Transmission and Distribution projects. Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Responsibilities include:
- Participating with Project Leads, Regional Engineers and Contract Specialists in preparing contractor bid packages, including packaging instructions to bidders, specifications or design drawings and coordination with others
- Assisting in performing constructability reviews with site walkdowns.
- Monitoring and overseeing contractor work to ensure projects are meeting scheduled deadlines, construction standards, safety requirements and other contract criteria
- Preparing project-specific reports to management
- Facilitating equipment and material procurement, staging, and monitoring for contractor use
- Acknowledging receipt of materials for projects and ensuring materials received are same materials called for by design professionals
- Inspecting work performed by contractors against design and construction standards
- Acting as initial point of contact and liaison between contractor field crews and client
- Documenting project site meetings with contractors that address issues such as safety, performance, quality control, or adherence to construction schedules
- Initiating and maintaining daily logs, documenting contractor identification, contractor headcount, site-specific weather information, changes to work scopes, and other project data and information
- Coordinating local switching orders and contractor requested outages
- Reviewing and analyzing contactors' documents supporting request for payment and/or change orders
- Verifying critical contractor field testing, including but not limited to soil compaction, concrete (slump) testing, cylinder testing, and grounding testing
- Coordinating contractor and client project acceptance testing and checkout prior to final project release for service
- Inspecting circuits prior to energizing or re-energizing
- Participating in contractor evaluation, project review meetings and meetings concerning "lessons learned"
- Maintaining list of all items needing contractor modification/work/change (punch list) prior to final acceptance
- Ensuring that "as-built" drawings are prepared and submitted by contractor
- Ensuring that Operating Companies and Engineering receive "as-built" drawings
- Providing feedback to Engineering, design professionals, and asset management on contractor costs for estimating future projects
- Continually analyzing areas for constant improvement of contractor retention and working with Project Leads and Contractor Services personnel
- Fostering a high-performing safety culture through personal conduct and utilization of human performance principles.
- Coordinating staking of structures, wetlands, and vegetation as part of the project's scope assessment. Understanding how site actions impact project costs. Proactively understanding all estimate components for a project, and the relationship of estimate to the project Schedule of Values.
- Ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards and specifications.
- Understanding Quality Standards and specific quality requirements as defined for the outcome of construction activities.
- Clearly articulating quality requirements for all vendors and others working on construction activities. Understanding resource needs on assigned projects.
- Inspecting work performed by contractors against design and construction standards.
- Understanding the typical risks on a transmission, Substation or Distribution construction project. Implementing a construction risk management plan for anticipated construction risks.
- Documenting project site meetings with contractors that address issues such as safety, performance, quality control, or adherence to construction schedules.
- Ensuring all the stakeholders have necessary permit copies.
- Maintaining digital / printed copy of the red line drawings of the project site.
- Participating in contractor evaluation, project review meetings, and meetings concerning 'Lessons Learned'.
- Aware of procedures and policies designed to comply with ethics standards. Consistently apply ethic guidelines in working with stakeholders (external and internal).
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related technical field required.
- In lieu of a degree, 3 years of experience in commercial or industrial construction required.
- Experience in electrical substation, Transmission, Distribution and / or line construction preferred.
- Proven teamwork and interpersonal skills to aid in the resolution of compliance issues. Demonstrated ability in using Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to deliver quality, accurate work within established deadlines.
- Self-motivated and a self-starter, customer focused, and results oriented.
