HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW The Director, Trade Compliance is responsible for leading the strategy, governance, and execution of the global trade compliance program, ensuring enterprise-wide compliance and risk mitigation
This is a hybrid position based near Fremont, CA.
EXPECTATIONS
· Establish governance frameworks, policies, and internal controls aligned with EAR, ITAR, and OFAC
· Assess and mitigate import and export compliance risks across products and business units
· Advise legal partners and executive leadership on licensing strategy and regulatory exposure
· Oversee responses to government inquiries, audits, and investigations
· Direct ECCN and HTS classification, export licensing, and license management
· Manage denied party screening programs and deemed export controls
· Lead internal audit programs and remediation through root cause analysis and corrective actions
· Implement metrics and reporting to measure program effectiveness
· Manage relationships with customs brokers, external counsel, and regulatory agencies
· Lead and develop a global trade compliance team, defining roles and accountability
ESSENTIALS
· 15+ years of experience in global trade compliance, including leadership responsibility
· Deep expertise in EAR, ITAR, OFAC, U.S. Customs, and international trade regulations
· Experience building and scaling compliance programs in a global, technology-driven environment
· Proven leadership and cross-functional influence at the senior level
· Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP) and compliance automation tools
· Strong strategic thinking, executive communication, and risk judgment skills
