Reports To: Executive Director - Technical Services

EMPLOYMENT BEGINS: As soon as possible

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

• Lead the Technical Services Department at the direction of the Executive Director of Technical Services. The Director also assists the Executive Director in setting department policies and procedures and ensures that the department maintains a high level of client satisfaction for staff and students.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid Texas driver's license
• Preference will be given to applicants with technical certifications, education, or experience in a relevant technical field

Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Technical knowledge of telephone systems, wide area networks, audio/visual systems, computer hardware and software, network security best practices, data center power and cooling systems, and radio station technology
• Highly organized, detailed oriented, and able to work within a high-pressure environment
• Ability to communicate technical information both verbally and in writing
• Ability to analyze and problem-solve a variety of highly technical issues
• Must have excellent communication, leadership, project management, and customer service skills

Experience:
• Have a minimum of five years' experience managing a technical team
• Experience managing large complex projects, including researching, evaluating, and implementing new technologies
• Experience in technical specification writing and the RFP process
• Experience in designing and implementing complex technical systems
• Experience with E-Rate policies, procedures, and deadlines

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Assign and supervise tasks directly and through intermediate supervisors to ensure efficient and functioning technical systems
• Collaborates with the district's architects and engineers to develop technical RFPs, which includes all technical design drawings and technical specification writing
• Interviews and hires personnel directly and works with supervisors on their hiring recommendations
• Responsible for managing all the Technical Services' personnel issues directly or through intermediate supervisors
• Collaborates with Technical Services' supervisors and staff on product research, evaluation, and implementation
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage and support the Technical Services' supervisors responsible for the installation and maintenance of district-wide technology systems
• Manage and supports the Helpdesk Manager responsible for all Help Desk Agents and all help desk matters
• Manage and support the Technical Services' Project Manager
• Manage and support the Technical Services' Asset Manager
• Manage and support the work of Technical Services' staff by facilitating and tracking project status; identifying problems and issues; allocating appropriate resources and ensuring that technical support services are completed on schedule and at the highest levels of quality. Assist staff in the troubleshooting of high-level technical issues
• Support all direct reports on their technical and professional growth as well as the growth of their staff members

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands:
• Long and varied hours. Work performed on multiple projects concurrently, under the pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations, and occasionally work nights, weekends, and holidays
• Responsible for operational uptime of multiple technology systems in the district that affects business, educational and security functions within the school district

Physical demands/environmental factors:
• Long hours of sitting and working at a computer
• Occasional visits to job sites reviewing work at high places which requires the use of ladders, powered lifts, and scaffolds. Also review work in confined spaces such as crawl spaces under the buildings
• Reaching with hands and arms frequently repeating the same hand, arm, or finger motion
