Position Overview
A leading medical center is seeking a dedicated Director (RN) of Surgical Services to lead their department in Missoula, MT. As a newly opened senior leadership role, you will report directly to the Chief Nursing Officer and be responsible for directing departmental activities and resources to achieve organizational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Direct and evaluate departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technology, and quality control objectives.
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement goals and standards consistent with clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical objectives.
- Team Management: Plan and monitor staffing activities, including hiring, orientation, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and continuing education.
- Financial Oversight: Prepare and monitor departmental budgets to ensure compliance with allocated funding.
- Clinical Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate and mentor for personnel, overseeing the nursing process for pediatric patients from admission through discharge.
- Compliance: Coordinate and direct internal and external audits to maintain high standards of care.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Current (or eligible) Montana Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) is required.
- Strongly Preferred: Advanced degree such as an MSN, MBA, or Healthcare Administration.
- Experience: At least five years of experience as a Surgical Services RN, with specific leadership experience at the Manager or Director level.
- Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Providers required upon hire.
- Requirement: Must obtain PALS and ACLS within six months of hire.
