Summary
Duties and Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors Degree in Public or Business Administration, Risk Management, or a related field and five (5) years experience in public or private sector risk management including two (2) years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Comprehensive knowledge of risk management, loss control, insurance financing and philosophy; the Texas Tort Claims Act; comprehensive knowledge of public sector risk analysis, insurance principles, and cost containment programs; considerable knowledge of local government operations; considerable knowledge of business process analysis methods
Skill in problem solving, decision making and maintaining accurate records; skill in managing professional and clerical employees; skill in managing multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to analyze costs, data, trends, and other areas related to risk management, insurance plans and accidents; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, coworkers, County employees, Department Heads, Elected/Appointed Officials, other government agencies and outside organizations
Demonstrates technological intuitiveness
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
Must possess a valid drivers license; may operate a county/personal vehicle
Required to be on-call 24 hours
May be required to work weekends
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
