Job Description Summary:
Under general direction, the Director of Research Security Support Services provides system-wide leadership for research security program development, coordination, and operational support. Reporting to senior system research security leadership, the Director serves as a subject-matter expert, advancing a risk-based, mission-aligned approach that supports collaborative research and compliance with federal requirements across all member institutions.
Responsibilities:
The Director serves as a strategic compliance partner, supporting the development of effective research security programs and member support services.
- Develops, enhances, implements, and maintains effective broad-based research security framework.
- Lead the development, interpretation, and implementation of system-level research security policies, standards, and guidance.
- Ensure policies and processes remain responsive to evolving federal agency expectations, regulatory changes, and emerging threats.
- Oversee the delivery of research security support services provided to member institutions, including consultation, issue resolution, and escalation support.
- Develop communication strategies and resources that translate complex requirements into practical guidance for the research enterprise.
- Lead and mentor research security professionals and support staff, fostering professional development and collaboration across institutions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ten years of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective problem solver.
- Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively with others.
