EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelors Degree
Five years' experience in management of food production operation to include purchasing, employee supervision, and warehousing
Two years' experience in a school environment as Food Service Management Administrator
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY:
To enhance the learning environment through effective and efficient leadership of the School Nutrition Services Department
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises the creation of cafeteria menus for all campuses and age groups within Federal, State, and Local regulations.
Implements and evaluates short, medium, and long-range processes to measure and control food, non-food, and equipment costs to keep within department budget and in accordance with Local, State, and Federal bid laws.
Evaluates and make recommendations based on food and supply cost analysis to assist in departmental budget development.
Utilizes USDA Foods effectively according to Federal and State regulations.
Directs warehouse operations and staff in all areas, including accountability of inventory and proper food handling to minimize loss and maximize efficiency.
Directs and evaluates subordinate supervisory inhouse cafeteria management training program and inhouse cafeteria staff training.
Works with vendors and community partners to increase local purchasing practices.
Indirectly supervises all personnel in the school cafeterias and school nutrition services office.
Assists the Executive Director with all activities that lead to the successful implementation of the School Nutrition program.
Develops procedures in compliance with District and Department vision.
Develops strategic plans and procedures to better utilize kitchen equipment and staff through menu development.
Manages department social media sites and content.
Represents the Executive Director at District and campus meetings as necessary.
Creates programs and merchandising techniques to increase student meal participation and adjust menu offerings to maximize nutrition and satisfaction of customers.
Meets with school administrators and school nurses to discuss and resolve issues related to the school meal program.
Supervises the maintenance of nutritional analysis and ingredient profiles for all food items utilized in the District operation.
Keeps students, staff, and the public informed of the menu and services offered by the school cafeteria and the health and educational benefits gained by students through participation in the meal program.
Addresses parental concerns and suggestions with regards to meal program and policies.
Meets quarterly with PTA Lunch Room Evaluation Committee concerning menus and cafeteria services.
Supports District goals for student and staff wellness to optimize performance and attendance.
Provides leadership to ensure consistency and compliance with all policies and procedures.
Prepares memos and reports as needed by the Executive Director or designee.
Attends professional development opportunities annually.
Maintains confidentiality of information.
Reports to work on time every day.
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to low or intense illumination, vibration; work in a confined space, and prolonged and irregular hours. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, toxic or kitchen cleaning chemicals, extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
