The Opportunity
The Director of Quality – Product Integration leads quality oversight from factory release through field installation, startup, turnover, and early operations support. This role ensures continuity of equipment quality requirements across fabrication, logistics, site delivery, installation, testing, and client acceptance, and reports to the VP of Quality.
The ideal candidate brings strong quality leadership, field execution, and manufacturing experience, with the ability to influence engineering, suppliers, construction teams, commissioning partners, and clients. This leader will reduce field defects and rework, improve startup readiness, strengthen turnover quality, and drive corrective action across the project lifecycle.
What you will do?
Team Leadership and Management
- Lead and develop quality personnel supporting product integration, field execution, inspection, and turnover activities.
- Set measurable objectives, track KPIs, and provide senior leadership with updates on quality performance, field issues, startup readiness, and turnover risks.
- Influence cross-functional teams across design, procurement, manufacturing, logistics, construction, commissioning, and operations to drive quality improvements.
Field Integration and Turnover
- Ensure quality continuity from factory acceptance through site receipt, storage, installation, startup, turnover, and early operations support.
- Define inspection hold points, witness points, and acceptance criteria, and ensure turnover documentation accurately reflects installed conditions, testing status, open items, and client requirements.
- Establish and enforce controls for receiving inspection, preservation, installation verification, punch closure and commissioning readiness.
- Lead quality oversight of mechanical, electrical, controls, and modular equipment interfaces and verify conformance to drawings, specifications, submittals, and as-built requirements.
Quality Systems, Controls and Complaince
- Develop and implement quality management systems, inspection and test plans, and control processes aligned with project, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain quality frameworks and standards that support consistent execution across projects and field teams.
- Lead audits, inspections, and nonconformance management, ensuring timely resolution, complete records, and audit-ready documentation.
- Define quality requirements for handoffs between fabrication, logistics, construction, commissioning, and operations.
Client, Supplier, and Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with project management, engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, subcontractors, commissioning teams, and operations to integrate quality-driven strategies.
- Monitor supplier, fabricator, and installer quality performance and support communication with stakeholders regarding quality status, risk, readiness, and acceptance criteria.
Continuous Improvement and Performance Management
- Implement process improvement initiatives that improve quality performance, field issue resolution, and execution efficiency.
- Track and report metrics related to defects, rework, startup readiness, punch closure, turnover quality, and corrective action effectiveness.
- Identify recurring issues and develop lessons learned, standard work, and preventive controls to improve future performance and accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Construction Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, product quality, field quality, or related disciplines, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience leading quality for equipment installation, modular integration, startup, turnover, or operational readiness in field environments.
- Experience in mission critical, industrial, energy, manufacturing, or highly coordinated equipment-based projects.
- Proven success implementing quality management systems, inspection controls, and corrective action programs across complex projects.
- This job will require to travel 40-60% of time.
