A Director of Plant Operations opportunity is available in Kansas City, MO at a 585+ bed hospital featuring a Level I Trauma Center, Primary Stroke Center, Chest Pain Center, and Breast Care Center, among other specialty services.

The role. Reporting to the COO/Associate Administrator, the Director of Plant Operations holds oversight responsibility for buildings, grounds, utilities, and non-clinical equipment across two hospital campuses — the main medical center and a regional medical center approximately 15–20 minutes away — with travel between sites on an as-needed basis. The Director leads all Plant Operations functions, including planning, coordination, and day-to-day direction, while also facilitating the initiation and completion of construction projects. Oversight extends to contract providers of clinical equipment management, as well as regulatory compliance activities such as life safety and environmental care planning and leading the facilities through Joint Commission surveys.

What we're looking for.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Business, Security Management, Industrial Safety, Administration of Justice, or a related field; in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an Associate's degree in a related field with ten years of plant operations management experience and healthcare safety experience
  • A minimum of ten years (10) experience in plant operations and construction required
  • Minimum of seven (7) years in administrative positions
  • Experience in healthcare, safety, and security required
  • Must have experience with regulatory compliance, conducting life safety and environmental care plans, and leading a hospital in a Joint Commission survey in these areas
  • Current driver's license
  • Class "A" Operating Engineers license preferred
  • Union experience preferred
