Director of Youth Career Exploration Programs

Northern Star Scouting offers an exciting opportunity for a youth development professional ready to take our career exploration program from great to exceptional! The Director of Exploration Programs leads a community-based initiative that helps young people discover career paths, build real‑world skills, and connect with mentors in local industries. This role oversees program development, partner engagement, volunteer coordination, and long‑term strategy to ensure that teens and young adults have meaningful, hands‑on learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Leadership - Design, manage, and grow experiential learning programs that introduce youth to a wide range of career fields.
  • Community Partnerships - Build and maintain relationships with businesses, schools, civic groups, and professionals who can provide mentorship and learning opportunities.
  • Volunteer Development - Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers who help deliver program activities.
  • Youth Engagement - Create welcoming, inclusive environments where young people feel motivated to explore interests and develop leadership skills.
  • Event Coordination - Oversee workshops, career visits, hands‑on activities, and community events that connect youth with real‑world experiences.
  • Program Evaluation - Track participation, measure outcomes, and use data to improve program quality.
  • Budget & Administration - Manage program budgets, reporting, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

  • Leadership Experience in youth programs, education, community development, or related fields.
  • Strong Communication Skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse groups.
  • Partnership Building experience with local organizations, businesses, or educational institutions.
  • Project Management skills, including planning, scheduling, and coordinating events.
  • Commitment to Youth Development and creating equitable opportunities for young people.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends.
