GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Director of Title III and Sponsored Programs is responsible for developing, managing, and overseeing all federal Title III grant initiatives and institutional sponsored research and programs. This position serves as a strategic leader within the institution, working collaboratively with academic and administrative departments to expand funding opportunities, ensure compliance, and maximize the institution's research and programmatic capacity. The Director is a member of the leadership team and reports directly to the President.
The Director of Title III and Sponsored Programs is a full-time, 12-month position responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight of federally funded initiatives, grant development, and sponsored program administration. The position is based on the College’s main campus and may require occasional travel to professional conferences, training programs, grant-related meetings, and external stakeholder engagements. This role demands exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, competing deadlines, and complex compliance requirements. Flexibility to work extended hours may be necessary during grant development, submission, reporting, and implementation periods. The Director is expected to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality, ethical conduct, and fiscal stewardship while advancing the College’s mission, institutional priorities, and long-term strategic goals. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: - Develop and execute comprehensive strategies for Title III grant acquisition, management, and reporting.
- Identify, pursue, and secure sponsored research and program funding opportunities from federal, state, and private sources.
- Serve as the institutional liaison with the U.S. Department of Education regarding Title III programs, compliance, and reporting requirements.
- Maintain compliance with all federal regulations, institutional policies, and sponsor requirements related to Title III and sponsored programs.
- Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals, applications, and supporting documentation.
- Manage the Title III and sponsored programs budget, including allocation, monitoring, and reporting of expenditures.
- Collaborate with faculty, department chairs, and administrators to identify funding needs and align institutional priorities with grant opportunities.
- Provide guidance and support to faculty and staff on grant development, submission, and management processes.
- Oversee the administration of awarded grants, including project management, milestone tracking, and performance reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with government agencies, foundations, and external partners.
- Monitor federal and state legislation affecting Title III and sponsored programs.
- Present program updates and results to the President, Board of Trustees, and leadership team.
- Participate in strategic planning to enhance the institution's research and program portfolio.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required:
- Master's degree from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 7-10 years of professional experience in grant administration, Title III programs, or sponsored research management
- Demonstrated experience with federal grant writing and project management
- In-depth knowledge of Title III regulations, compliance requirements, and reporting procedures
- Strong understanding of federal research compliance, indirect cost structures, and cost-share requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing demands
- Experience working in a higher education environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
- Prociency with standard office software and database management systems
Preferred: - Ph.D. or terminal degree in a relevant discipline
- Experience with institutional research or assessment
- Grant management software experience (e.g., Kuali, InfoReady, Grants.gov)
- Experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- Track record of successfully securing signicant external funding
- Familiarity with NSF, NIH, or other major federal funding agencies
