The Director of the Richard L. and Judith A. Torgerson Center for Nordic Studies provides programmatic oversight and leadership for the only endowed Center for Nordic Studies in North America. In this new position, the director will work collaboratively with the executive director to craft a vision for the Center as a catalyst for connection between the campus community and the Nordic region. The director will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Center's physical space and its programming to expand the robust curricular and co-curricular offerings in Nordic Studies.
Salary: $54,500 - $67,500
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide programmatic oversight for key Center priorities
- Manage the budgets for the Center
- Manage the facilities and scheduling for the physical Center space
- Maintain strong connections with partner institutions in the United States and abroad
- Identify new partner institutions
- Manage grants for students, faculty and staff within the Center
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to craft a new strategic plan
- Develop robust programming with on and off campus partners, including partnerships to develop internship placements for students in the Nordic region
- Provide leadership and oversight for visits of dignitaries from the Nordic region
- Hire, train and supervise student workers for the Center

- Education: Bachelor's degree
- Experience:
- Developing and sustaining programs
- Creating and maintaining budget systems
- Communicating effectively and clearly with on and off campus stakeholders
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Must be willing to work occasional long and irregular hours, including nights and weekends
- Involves sitting, standing, and walking
- Some situations may involve heavy lifting
- Pleasant, smoke free, air conditioned in summer and comfortably warm in winter
