Director Of Technology Operations

There is an opening for Director of Technology Operations in the East Irondequoit Central School District. This position is 12-months working Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.

Responsibilities are, but not limited to the following:

  • Engage administrators, teachers, and appropriate staff to ensure the effective and appropriate use of technology throughout the District
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational support for district initiatives
  • Ensure that training documentation and resources for all district-used hardware and software are current, accessible, and relevant
  • Plan for, upgrade, and maintain district network infrastructure and equipment to meet instructional, operational, and administrative objectives
  • Develop and administer the Information Technology Department budget, including all technology-related resources and services contracted through BOCES, aligned with district goals and priorities
  • Act as the Districts' Data Privacy Officer and manage the District's program of data security, including compliance with Education Law 2-d
  • Ensure the District applies for and receives all eligible E-rate funding
  • Oversee and maintain accurate inventory records of all district technology assets
  • Review and manage maintenance and service contracts to ensure mission-critical infrastructure, hardware, and software have appropriate service-level agreements to minimize downtime
  • Ensure continuous availability and functionality of the district emergency communication system
  • Manage district telephone systems, voicemail systems, overhead paging systems, lockdown systems, and all audio/visual systems in schools, auditoriums, and cafetoriums
  • Provide oversight and support for all major enterprise systems, including the Student Management System, Finance System, Learning Management System, and other department-specific systems
  • Consult with instructional staff, vendors, and distributors regarding technology solutions that enhance teaching and learning
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings hosted by the BOCES Regional Information Center and BOCES Educational Communications Center for collaboration and information sharing
  • Research, analyze, and remain current on emerging technologies and best practices related to educational technology
  • Develop and manage strategies for the acquisition, deployment, installation, and upgrading of computer hardware and software
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, and communication of a standardized district hardware and software platform and long-term technology strategy
  • Ensure the District maintains a viable and tested business continuity and disaster recovery plan and incident response plan that are updated and reviewed on a regular basis
  • Assign, supervise, and direct personnel engaged in special technical projects and ongoing technology operations
  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools
