Position Summary: Under the Superintendent's direction, the Director of Technology provides leadership in identifying, assessing, and managing technology needs for the school district; directs, coordinates, supervises, facilitates and performs all tasks and elements needed to implement comprehensive integration of appropriate technology into every facet of operations (reliability of technology systems, robust performance and security of the network, etc.); and contributes to the infusion of educational technology into classrooms in collaboration with the instructional leadership team. The Director of Technology accomplishes this by providing highly motivating, professional leadership in all areas of technology planning and technology resource management, and serves as an integral member of the school district''s leadership team.

Essential Position Functions:

  • Establish the vision and goals for the district's information technology landscape through collaboration with the technology committee, including big-picture perspectives on the meaningful and effective uses of technology in an educational environment.
  • Prepare, implement, and manage the technology budget.
  • Prepare grant proposals and annual eRate submissions designed to secure additional funding for the school district in the area of technology.
  • Manage the maintenance, monitoring, and inventory of all instructional and logistical information technology (servers, networking, cabling, telephone, cloud, finance & curriculum software, data-hub, devices etc.)
  • Responsible for all aspects of Cybersecurity and leading the District's Cyber Security Incident Response team. This includes staff training, data protection, intrusion prevention, and disaster recovery functions.
  • Responsible for instructional devices and technology, including but not limited to: staff and student devices (Chromebooks, laptops, doc cams; mifi's and wifi's); SMARTboards; audio/visual equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for system communications including phone, public announcement (PA), bells, and clocks.
  • Assist in the management of the district student information system (Skyward).
  • Create and support cross-functional teams for decision-making, technology support, professional development, and other aspects of the technology program.
  • Provide information technology leadership for district committees.
  • Assist in the management of the district web-presence.
  • Coordinate the acquisition of hardware and software for educational and management functions.
  • Create and maintain partnerships with local governmental and educational agencies that are mutually beneficial.
  • Manage the creation, implementation, and enforcement of policies and educational programs relating to the social, legal, and ethical issues related to technology use throughout the district.
  • Ensure district high-stakes testing information technology infrastructure is robust and stable.
  • Facilitate the support of multiple learning management system platforms in order to meet the instructional goals of the district (Google, Microsoft, etc.)
  • Effectively communicates with the administrative team members.
  • Participates in professional learning initiatives.
  • Facilitates the implementation for the District's vision for the use of present and emerging technology designed to improve the teaching, learning process.
