The Director of Technology is responsible for leading the organization's technology strategy, infrastructure, and support model across a multi-location healthcare environment. This role ensures the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support clinical operations, enhance patient experience, and drive organizational efficiency. The Director partners closely with operational and clinical leaders to align technology initiatives with business priorities while bringing a forward-thinking, innovative approach to advancing systems and capabilities
across Thomas Eye Group.
In addition, the Director of Technology oversees emergency preparedness, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning to ensure organizational resilience. This role leads and manages the external IT support team, including oversight of performance, service delivery, and the overall partnership with Thomas Eye Group. The Director serves as the primary point of leadership for technical discussions with vendors, consultants, and key stakeholders, ensuring alignment, accountability, and effective execution. This position provides leadership in a rapidly evolving and increasingly complex technology landscape, guiding the organization through change while fostering strong collaboration across internal teams and external partners. The Director is responsible for planning and executing strategic initiatives that enable infrastructure and network environments to operate reliably and scale effectively in support of organizational growth. This role also serves as the HIPAA Security Officer, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulatory and data security requirements.
Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or General Business preferred
Required Minimum Experience: 8 to 12 years of technology function/practice experience

Key Responsibilities
Technology Vendor Management & Partnerships
Establish and manage relationships with key technology vendors, including EHR, practice management systems, infrastructure providers, and third party support partners
Negotiate contracts, monitor service level agreements (SLAs), and hold vendors accountable for performance and issue resolution
Evaluate vendor landscape and emerging solutions, recommending technologies that improve scalability, integration, and cost efficiency
Cybersecurity Strategy & Risk Management
Lead the organization's cybersecurity strategy, ensuring appropriate safeguards are in place to protect patient and employee data
Maintain compliance with applicable healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and industry best practices
Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability reviews, and incident response planning
Partner with external experts as needed to strengthen security posture and monitoring capabilities
End User Support & Multi Site IT Operations
Oversee delivery of responsive, high quality IT support across all locations, including clinics, ASCs, and corporate offices
Design and implement a scalable support model that balances centralized support with onsite presence
Ensure consistent service levels, timely issue resolution, and a positive end user experience across all sites
Support training, adoption, and change management efforts to ensure effective utilization of technology solutions
Location Engagement & Relationship Building
Regularly visit practice locations to build relationships with physicians, clinical teams, and operational leaders
Develop a deep understanding of site specific workflows, challenges, and technology needs
Serve as a trusted partner to the field, proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, patient experience, and team effectiveness through technology
IT Runbook Development & Knowledge Management
Create and maintain a comprehensive IT runbook, including standard operating procedures, system configurations, and troubleshooting protocols
Establish a centralized knowledge repository to ensure consistency, scalability, and continuity across the IT function
Drive documentation discipline to reduce dependency on individuals and improve onboarding and cross training
Proactive Issue Identification & Continuous Improvement
Analyze trends in system performance, help desk tickets, and recurring issues to identify and solve for root causes
Develop and execute preventative solutions to reduce downtime and improve system reliability
Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance IT service delivery and operational efficiency
Technology Budgeting & Financial Stewardship
Develop and manage the IT operating and capital budgets, including forecasting and long term
planning
Monitor spend against budget and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising service quality
Build business cases for technology investments aligned with organizational priorities
Strategic Technology Planning & Execution
Partner with executive leadership to define and execute a multi year technology roadmap aligned with organizational growth, operational efficiency, and patient experience
Bring a forward thinking, innovative approach to technology at Thomas Eye Group, proactively identifying and advancing opportunities to modernize systems, enhance capabilities, and leverage emerging technologies
Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to inform future state architecture and long term investment decisions
Evaluate and implement solutions that improve integration, automation, data visibility, and overall system functionality across clinical and business operations
Lead enterprise wide technology initiatives from concept through implementation, ensuring strong project governance and stakeholder alignment
Communicate technology strategy, risks, and initiatives effectively to executive leadership and key stakeholders
Continuously assess and optimize existing systems to elevate performance, usability, and scalability, driving ongoing improvement in how technology supports the organization
Ensure all technology investments are aligned with business priorities and deliver measurable operational and financial impact
Data, Reporting & Business Enablement
Partner with operational and finance leaders to support reporting, analytics, and data accessibility needs across the organization
Ensure core systems enable accurate, timely, and actionable reporting to support decision making
Identify opportunities to enhance data integration, reporting capabilities, and overall data visibility
