Job Summary

The Director of Student Life has responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, development, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Student Activities program at Lamar State College Port Arthur. This includes oversight of student leadership and organizations, student activities, community service opportunities, recreational activities and emerging leader program. The Director of Student Life plays a vital role in fostering student engagement, leadership growth, and a vibrant campus experience. This position requires flexibility in schedule, and often requires weekend and evening hours. This is a full-time position that reports to the LSCPA's Student Services Department.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Advises the Student Government Association and faculty sponsor
  • Oversees student organizations and faculty sponsors
  • Plans and supports (details) campus programming
  • Plans and oversees campus and community parade participation and related events
  • Provides leadership for recreational and wellness initiatives
  • Leads and oversees student government programming
  • Conducts and participates in leadership training activities
  • Oversees community service initiatives
  • Partners with campus departments to plan and support events and student engagement
  • Serves on committees for special events
  • Develops partnerships to support campus-wide programming and wellness initiatives
  • Coordinates the Emerging Leaders Program
  • Provides oversight and supervision of the food pantry and supply closet
  • Provides training for student leaders
  • Assists with the administration of the student conduct process
  • Supervises staff, student workers, and volunteers within Student Life
  • Develop and manage the Student Life budget
  • Evaluates programs and uses data to improve student engagement
  • Review, updates, and maintains the Student Handbook and Student Organization Guide
  • Comply with campus policies and procedures
  • Other related duties, as assigned

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Two (2) years experience on jobs leading to this, or similar jobs
  • Valid driver's license

Supplemental Information

Physical Requirements:

This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on and off campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
