Building Restoration & Structural Engineering Leadership Opportunity
A well-established structural engineering and building restoration firm is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / Director of Engineering to support and expand operations. This leadership role is ideal for an experienced structural engineer with expertise in aging infrastructure, façade restoration, parking structures, and multi-family/commercial building rehabilitation throughout the Northeast region.
The selected candidate will oversee engineering operations, lead structural restoration initiatives, mentor technical staff, and serve as the lead Professional Engineer for complex restoration and forensic projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead PE and technical authority for structural and restoration projects throughout New Jersey
- Oversee engineering operations, project delivery, and staff management
- Lead structural assessments, façade inspections, parking garage evaluations, and rehabilitation projects
- Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, reports, and technical specifications
- Manage projects from investigation and design through construction administration
- Conduct forensic investigations involving structural distress, water intrusion, façade failures, and construction defects
- Coordinate closely with property managers, condominium associations, architects, and contractors
- Oversee construction administration including RFIs, submittals, field observations, and contractor coordination
- Ensure compliance with New Jersey building codes, IBC, ASCE, ACI, and local municipality requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to firm growth and operational improvements
Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Licensed Professional Engineer in New Jersey required
- Minimum 7+ years of structural engineering experience focused on existing buildings
- Experience with façade restoration, parking garages, concrete rehabilitation, and forensic engineering preferred
- Strong knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, AISC, and New Jersey construction regulations
- Experience with structural analysis software such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, SAFE, or Revit
- Strong client communication, technical writing, and leadership skills
- Experience managing multiple projects and engineering teams in a client-facing environment
