Job Title: Director of Sterile Processing
Location: Asheville, NC
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift: Days | Rotating Weekends


Compensation

  • Salary Range: $110,000 – $170,000 (based on experience)
  • Sign-On Bonus: Available on a case-by-case basis

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Sterile Processing to provide strategic and operational leadership for the Sterile Processing Department within a large, high-volume acute care hospital. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality, compliant, and efficient instrument reprocessing services that support surgical and procedural areas.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight of Sterile Processing operations, staffing, and departmental performance
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, infection control, and sterilization standards
  • Oversee quality assurance programs and continuous process improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with perioperative leadership and clinical departments to enhance workflow and efficiency
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, competency validation, and ongoing staff education
  • Manage department resources, equipment, and workflow to support clinical operations
  • Utilize data-driven insights to improve productivity and operational performance
  • Represent the department in organizational initiatives and cross-functional collaborations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Nursing, Surgical Technology, or a related field
  • Certified Sterile Processing credential (CRCST or CSPDT) – Required
  • IAHCSMM / HSPA Certification – Required
  • Minimum 5 years of Sterile Processing experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Central Sterile Processing
  • Acute care hospital experience required

  • Leadership structure includes multiple team leads
