GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Director of Special Services provides strategic leadership, oversight, and coordination for all district special education programs and services. Ensures compliance with federal and state laws governing special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and related regulations.
Responsible for leading and supervising all district special education programs, staff, related services, compliance procedures, evaluations, Medicaid processes, due process requirements, and instructional support for students with disabilities. Collaborates with school and district administrators to ensure equitable access to high-quality instruction, appropriate services, and inclusive educational opportunities for all students with disabilities.
Supervises special education coordinators, related service providers, and assigned support personnel while providing professional development, technical assistance, and leadership to school-based administrators and teachers. Reports to the Assistant Superintendent of Academics.
