Qualifications:
• Valid Wisconsin DPI licensure as a Director of Pupil Services or Supervisor of Special Education, as required by state law • A minimum of a master's degree in special education, educational administration, pupil services, or a related field • At least two years of successful professional experience in special education or a related area • Demonstrated knowledge of Wisconsin PI 11 and IDEA, including state and federal requirements governing special education • Knowledge of and experience in the supervision, support, and evaluation of licensed and non-licensed staff • Knowledge of and experience in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation • Understanding of effective instructional practices and the teaching and learning process • Experience supporting the development and maintenance of a positive, inclusive school climate • Commitment to ongoing professional learning to maintain current knowledge and skills in pupil services and special education
Responsibilities:
Provide administrative leadership for all special education programs and services.
Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate special education services to ensure appropriate educational opportunities for all children with disabilities.
Provide leadership that promotes the effective integration of special education and general education programs and services.
Oversee placement, admission, programming, reevaluation, and termination decisions for students with disabilities and ensure appropriate follow-up.
In collaboration with the administrative team, administer, supervise, and coordinate special education and related service personnel across all program areas.
Develop, administer, and oversee the full implementation of the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team process, including required documentation, reports, and forms.
Serve as a liaison among special education programs, general education staff, parents/guardians, community members, and outside agencies.
Coordinate and provide professional development opportunities for special education staff, related service providers, general education staff, district personnel, parents/guardians, and community partners.
Ensure the provision of appropriate facilities, specialized transportation, materials, and resources to support students, staff, programs, and services.
Complete and submit all required special education reports, data collections, and district plans in compliance with Wisconsin DPI and state and federal requirements.
Oversee the screening, identification, and referral processes for children suspected of having disabilities, in accordance with PI 11 and IDEA requirements.
