CommonBond Communities invites qualified applicants to apply for the Director of Services position at our Central Office in St. Paul. The Director of Services promotes the mission of CommonBond Communities through leadership of a team of dedicated social service staff focused on resident stability and independence. The Director of Services will work cooperatively across the Housing and Services team to continually improve the resident experience by making every resident touch point a consistent experience.  The scope of this leadership role includes the design, delivery, management, evaluation and reporting of quality services for residents living in CommonBond Communities.  The primary focus is on resident stability and independence, with secondary focus on community building and engagement. The Director of Services is responsible for developing and implementing evidence-based /informed strategies impacting resident stability and independence across the lifespan. This leader will approach stability and independence work from a portfolio and organization wide perspective.

 

 

 

Deliver high quality

·       Continuous engagement with industry leaders to identify trends and best practices related to housing stability and independence with a focus on eviction prevention and supporting seniors with living independently. 

·       Design and implement best practice models that ensure stability and independence.

·       Collaborate with Supportive Housing Manager on the design and implementation of evidence based Supportive Housing programs.

·       Incorporate Community Building and Engagement within the Advantage Service Coordinator model with an emphasis on resident leadership development, community building, and support for resident-led groups and activities.

 

Program evaluation

·       Lead the team in a data driven evaluation and continuous improvement/learning culture where metrics are set annually and reviewed monthly. 

·       Develop and monitor metrics focused on evictions prevented, seniors staying in housing, financial savings to property and overall community building and engagement.

·       Collaborate with database team to ensure dashboard of reports captures outcomes demonstrating the impact of Advantage Services.

·       Develop and implement ongoing strategies to collect information on resident needs and satisfaction.

 

 

Staff leadership

·       Develop and implement training modules of best practices working with people one-on-one including engagement, mental health de-escalation, and case management strategies.

·       Develop and monitor quality assurance systems including providing leadership for Casework Consultants. 

·       Provide direct supervision for Direct Reports as well as provision of licensure supervision as capacity allows.

·       Recruit, hire and orient new team members according to Advantage Services and CommonBond Communities policies and procedures.

·       Provide objective, honest feedback that is relevant, useful, and leads to improved performance; review performance on an ongoing basis and complete annual reviews. 

·       Provide job enrichment, coaching and personal development feedback to staff as appropriate to achieve performance improvement and develop professional growth plans and opportunities for staff. Plan and facilitate meetings using an efficient, results-oriented model that produces desired outcomes.

·       Promote high standards of practice in creation of and adherence to agency policies and procedures.

·       Develop and maintain Advantage Services policies and procedures in areas of responsibility, ensuring alignment with CommonBond policy.

 

Resource development &financial management

·       Develop and monitor budget for areas of oversight including close collaboration with Resource Development and Finance on new revenue sources, and meeting revenue and expense goals.

·       Assist managers in building budgeting and financial management skills. Ensure managers on team closely monitor expenses to align to budget goals.

·       Monitor financially sustainable growth of the Advantage Services model on behalf of the organization.

·       Collaborate with Resource Development on identifying funding strategies, submitting funding proposals, and ensuring compliance with funder agreements and contracts.

 

Service delivery model development

·       In collaboration with Advantage Services Vice President, explore and develop new service delivery models including core services, using third party service providers and acting as third-party providers for other developers.

·       Guide the development and implementation of the Core service delivery models where property managers are the primary service provider.

·       Serve as the lead staff member from Advantage Services on interdepartmental teams for new housing communities. Act as a liaison to development efforts, engaging other Advantage Services staff at key junctures.

 

Relationship management

·       Identify areas where resident needs combined with CommonBond priorities would suggest opportunities for partnerships with other organizations.

·       Seek out strategic partnership opportunities with mission aligned organizations in identified areas of need with a focus on mental and chemical health needs.

 

Team participation

·       Coordinate and lead Advantage Services Managers meetings.

·       Demonstrate a positive and collaborative team approach by providing team direction and encouraging trust and cooperation.

·       Promote problem solving and collaborative work within Housing and Services staff and all other business areas.

·       Participate in Advantage Services leadership team and CommonBond Communities Leadership contributing to discussions, actions and projects. 

 

Professional development

·       Develop and implement an annual professional development plan for continuous learning and training.

·       Contribute to the training and professional growth efforts of the Advantage Services team and those of other departments as requested.

 

 

·       Bachelors’ degree in related field and at least six years’ experience in a related field.

·       Six years of Human Services program development, leadership and management experience.

·       Four years of experience leading and supervising a professional staff.

·       Experience working with populations of diverse age, income, race, ethnicity, national origin and ability.

·       Experience establishing, measuring and analyzing program outcomes and impact.

·       Financial management skills.

·       Familiarity with public and private grants and contracts

·       Participative management style, supportive of team development.

·       Desire and ability to effect change.

·       Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

·       Be Certified in CPR and First Aid or have the ability to become certified within six months of starting position.

 

 

·       Masters’ degree in Social Work or related field.

·       Ten years of Human Services program development, leadership and management experience.

·       Licensed Mental Health Professional.

·       Knowledge, background and experience related to affordable housing with services.

·       Five years of successful fund development experience.

·       Budget preparation and cost containment experience.

·       Active involvement in professional organizations.

·       Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to Supportive Housing, Mental/Chemical Health.

·       Experience in Supportive Housing.

 

 

·       Ability to sit for extended periods of time.

·       Ability to lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 lbs.

·       Ability to file documents.

·       Ability to enter data into a computer.

·       Ability to interact verbally with internal and external audiences.

 

 

·       Must be willing and able to travel between sites within CommonBond geographic footprint.

·       Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as scheduled.

·       Must be willing to carry a cell phone.
