Position Summary
Reporting to the Head of Sales and Product Line Manager for Nuts, the Director of Sales is part of the Edible Nuts team and will be responsible for sales of Nuts to existing customers in addition to identifying new business. They will also be responsible for the negotiation of contract delivery, resolution of customer complaints/claims, and other transactional details. Additionally, they will maintain correspondence with our clients as well as our international sales offices.
This person should be a self-starter, forward-thinker, adaptable, and possess strong interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will possess strong relationship and negotiation skills required to earn and keep business, as well as manage quality claim mediation between suppliers and ofi entities. A high level of attention to detail and follow-up to ensure strategy is executed properly will be vital in ensuring success in this role.
Position Responsibilities
- Develop relationships with both existing and new business in the B2B realm to drive sales volume growth and to meet sales targets
- Assess market conditions including: volume, price, competition, and dynamics
- Track and manage warehouse inventory. Conduct periodic ageing analysis & ensuring rotation/timely liquidation of stocks
- Work closely with logistics and support staff to ensure excellence in contract execution, inventory management, stock ageing, rejections, debtors and vendor payables
- Deepen ofi’s understanding of the Edible Nuts industry, markets and customer’s requirements
- Extract premiums for partial load sales & strengthen relationships with brokers & niche players in the industry
- Execute the company's business plan with numeric and qualitative key performance indicators, which are tracked bi-annually
- Educate the customer on what ofi can provide in terms of products, grades, certifications, and supply chain differentiation
- Expand market presence within the industry by actively participating in industry forums
- Identify new opportunities for the book of business that will improve overall Business Unit (BU) profitability, including expansion of current supplier portfolio.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree is required, preferably in Marketing, Finance, Ag Business, Business Administration, Economics or related field. Five (5) years of relevant experience working in food or agriculture industry will be considered in lieu of degree.
- 5+ years food sales experience in both new business development and existing account management. Must have experience with negotiations.
- Experience with relevant Market and Industry Knowledge is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of nut production processes preferred
- Understanding of food supply chains
- Proven record of sales success with strong ability to build and maintain relationships with customers
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
- Ability to think critically with a strong business acumen
- Ability to act quickly in a fast-changing environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
The pay for this role in the state of CA ranges from $134,000 - $179,000 and is based on the position responsibilities and geographic location. Actual pay within this range may be determined based on candidate’s experience, qualifications and/or other determining factors.
