Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of the district's safety and security program. Oversee mitigation, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery phases of emergency management.
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
- Master's degree preferred
- Texas Principal Certification preferred
- Clear and valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of school safety and security programs, emergency operations planning, and risk management practices
- Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) procedures
- Knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and best practices related to school safety, emergency management, health services, and security operations
- Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate districtwide safety and security programs
- Ability to coordinate with law enforcement, emergency responders, government agencies, and community stakeholders
- Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and make recommendations based on findings
- Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and multiple projects simultaneously
- Proficiency in technology applications, spreadsheets, databases, and emergency communication systems
- Ability to work irregular and extended hours during emergencies and critical incidents
Experience:
- Five (5) years of experience in emergency management, risk management, safety and security, school administration, or a related field; or
- Five (5) years of successful experience as a professional educator and currently enrolled in or actively pursuing Texas principal certification.
