Director of Risk Management
Overview
We seek an experienced and proactive Director of Risk Management to lead patient safety, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction strategies for a 350-bed acute care hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. This key leadership position oversees the hospital's risk management program, ensuring that all activities support safe, high-quality patient care and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.

The Director serves as a strategic partner to senior leadership and department directors, leading risk assessment, claim management, incident review, and process improvement initiatives. The role is instrumental in fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Direct and coordinate all risk management and patient safety initiatives for the hospital.
Oversee claim management functions, including investigation, documentation, and resolution tracking.
Conduct proactive risk assessments for new services, programs, and operational processes.
Facilitate root cause analyses and ensure effective implementation of corrective action plans.
Manage the Patient Safety Council and integrate corporate and facility risk reduction strategies.
Analyze incident trends and develop data-driven recommendations for improvement.
Collaborate with clinical and administrative leaders to minimize risk exposure and ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting agencies.
Provide education, consultation, and guidance to leadership and staff on risk mitigation, patient safety, and compliance issues.
Serve as a key liaison for regulatory surveys and accreditation activities related to risk and safety.

Qualifications

Education:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field required.
- Master's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
Experience:
- Two (2) to five (5) years of hospital-based risk management experience required; acute care experience preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a related field preferred.
- Registered Nurse (RN) background preferred.
License/Certification:
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred.
Strong working knowledge of healthcare regulations, risk management principles, and patient safety frameworks.
Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across clinical and administrative teams.

Compensation & Benefits

Base Salary: $104,620 - $134,412 (commensurate with experience).
Full-time, exempt position.
