Description The Director of Residential Life and Housing is responsible for leading and managing a comprehensive housing and residential life program congruent with the values, mission and goals of both the University and the Office of Student Affairs. The Director oversees all department operations, residence life activities, planning and assessment, staff training, and risk management. The Director will implement quality residential life and housing program by administering best practices and creating opportunities for students to live and learn within an academic and social community. Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Director serves as a member of the Division Executive Team.

Examples of Duties Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provides overall leadership and supervision for the Residence Life/Housing program. • Serves as a key member of the Student Affairs Executive Team; providing policy recommendations and best practices for residential students. • Manages professional staff to administer all aspects of student residential life and housing operation functions including staffing and training, programming, occupancy management, facilities management, budgeting, marketing, risk management, business continuity practices, and residential services for summer camps/conferences. • Evaluates and assesses University housing occupancy and projection trends; oversees the residential facilities to maintain a safe, secure, and healthy living environment; confirms that all room assignments are completed and communicated to students. • Works collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to develop and support retention, progression, and completion initiatives for students; promote academic and student success activities through innovative and creative living/learning communities. • Directs assessment and evaluation activities to measure student success and learning as well as departmental improvements. • Responds to needs and concerns as appropriate. • Monitors progress of long-range planning goals and capital projects. • Represents the department at various activities and meetings and serve on various campus committees and task forces. • Performs other duties as assigned and work occasional evening and weekends.

Typical Qualifications Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.): • A Master's Degree • Experience is required at the professional housing level. • Experience in the direct supervision of full-time employees is required. • Experience managing, developing, and overseeing building construction plans. • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with students, administrators, faculty, and staff to implement programs and services. • Demonstrated successful experience working with diverse populations. • Demonstrated experience in the development and management of a substantial budget is required.
