JOB DESCRIPTION             

Position is located at the AMP Headquarters building in Columbus, Ohio, but remote candidates within the AMP membership footprint will be considered. This job is eligible for a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office and 2 days working from home).

Position Title:    Director of Reliability and Standards

Reports To:    Assistant Vice President of Engineering & Major Projects

FLSA Status:        Exempt

Basic Functions:    Responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and improving the reliability of critical generation assets, and managing program activities with applicable generation asset reliability standards. 

Essential Functions:

1.    Assists with the operations, maintenance, and engineering support of current and future power generation equipment.

2.    Develop and maintain a list of critical assets for each generating facility. Evaluate past maintenance practices, identify improvements, and develop a condition-based maintenance approach.  Create metrics to determine the health of each critical asset to include an inventory of critical spare parts.

3.    Manages, coordinates, and implements plant program activities related to North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) based compliance, maintenance, testing, documentation, tracking and reporting for applicable generation assets. Provide guidance and technical expertise to identify and resolve complex issues and report findings accordingly. Implement standard practices and policies. Approve, propose, and implement policy and process change. 

4.    Participates in North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC), Reliability First Corp. (RFC), SERC Reliability Corp. (SERC) and other applicable forums. Establishes and maintains good working relationships with key agency personnel.

5.    Manage projects related to reliability of critical assets and compliance with NERC standards.  Project management includes creating the scope of work, bid package, bid review, contract negotiations, and supervise on site as needed.

6.    Assist in providing outage management, support, and troubleshooting for all generation facilities.

7.    Generation Operations in-house expert in the following systems:

a.    Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)

b.    OSIsoft PI system

c.    Generating Availability Data System (GADS) reporting

8.    Evaluate performance of AMP’s generation sites, identify root cause for underperformance and develop corrective actions. 

9.    Track and manage maintenance activities with equipment manufacturers and maintenance contractors.

10.    Create and update reports for internal and external stakeholders.

11.    Assists with annual budgeting for all AMP generation facilities.

12.    Attends and represents AMP at meetings of interest to management.

13.    Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Qualifications:

1.    Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or engineering technology or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Professional Engineering license is a plus.

2.    Minimum five (5) years of experience in engineering or engineering-related work. Electrical generation experience is a plus. Other combinations of relevant skills and experience may be considered.

3.    Must demonstrate working knowledge of NERC, RFC, and SERC reliability standards, processes, and procedures is preferred.

4.    Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

5.    Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft software. 

6.    Must be able to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. 

7.    Must demonstrate the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems with little supervision. 

8.    Position requires professionalism, interpersonal effectiveness, and a cooperative attitude when working in a collaborative team environment.

9.    Position requires strong attention to detail and thoroughness in completing work assignments.

10.    Position requires a willingness to take on responsibility and address challenges as they arise.

11.    Must be willing to travel up to 20% annually as part of the job responsibilities.
